Mosman Progress Update from Our Custom Home Builders

It's been some weeks since we checked in on the progress on one of our favourite custom built homes in Mosman. Our talented tradespeople have a wealth of experience designing and building some of Sydney's most stylish and interesting homes.

At our last check-in, we had laid the ground-work with the first floor, and had added the roof timbers.

Let's take a closer look at how far we've come towards completion.

The next step in the piece after the wall and roof framing was finished was to concentrate on 'wrapping' the home. This is to prevent water seepage and damage, and to make the home water tight.

To get this process underway, we needed to install the windows and doors to the exterior of the home. We worked together with Airlite to complete this process.

After this we installed the roof and wall cladding - collaborating with our good friend Dan from the Copper and Zinc roofing company.

The Zinc utilised in construction was specifically selected by our client for its strong, modern asthetics. Zinc is an excellent material for this home in particular given its close proximity to the water. It's a very good and durable product for the area.

Work commences on the roof..

Take a look at the photos, the "wing" part of the roof which I'm sure you can see has taken a great deal of work to get right. But the results were well worth the effort - it's now looking 'just right'.

We decided on using zinc downpipes as they look sharp against the cladding. Shade hoods were added to one side of the elevation to prevent the harsh rays of the summer sun from entering the home. The hoods are also clad in zinc however we incorporated a metal leaf guard to reduce the instances that the owner would need to climb and remove material.

Finally, the internal roof balcony has been waterproffed and tiled. There are also lights on the balconey that provides ambient light over the kitchen space as they are north-facing. These will work great in winter, catching the low sun, as it moves across the sky.
